Daniel Salazar

May 16, 1946 — July 2, 2023

Daniel Munoz Salazar Sr., age 77 of Lubbock, Texas passed away from this life on July 2, 2023, at home and amongst his family. Daniel M. Salazar Sr. was born May 16, 1946, in Greenly Colorado to his loving parents Ulalio and Ruby Salazar. Daniel, being the oldest of 8 siblings, will be remembered for many things, but if there is one thing for certain, people will remember him for it is the fact that he never went a day without working. Daniel's choice of work was welding. He welded to provide a living for his family, and you could always find him on his days off working around his ranch and finding something to weld.
He was a member of Emmanuel Worship Center and eventually led his son to start attending as well.
Daniel had many hobbies that included fishing, hunting, farming, and attending church on Sundays. He would also find himself attending any church he was invited to because he didn't have it in him to say no.
Daniel has a lot in his life to always be remembered for from the horses out on his ranch to his love and caring for animals, but the most important memories he will leave behind are that of being a father, a brother, a grandpa, and most recently a great grandfather. Amongst his friends and family, he will always be known as Red Corn.
Daniel is survived by his two children, son Daniel Salazar Jr. and daughter Ayaxima Noxy Mondragon and many grandchildren, Marciana Bolton, Austin Chase Edwards, Aryanna Salazar, Cianna Rae Sharbono, Julian Davis, Alexander Daniel Salazar, Diego Mondragon, Mark Tylor Gayle, Brendon Johnny Gayle, Audrey Nicole Gayle, and one great-grandson Malakhai Anthony Morales. He is preceded in death by his father Ulalio and mother Ruby Salazar, two brothers Joe Salazar and Martin Salazar, and one sister Cecilia Ramos.
Visitations will be held Wednesday, July 12 from 3pm to 9pm and Thursday, July 13 from 9am to 9pm. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am July 14, 2023, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas with pastor Eric Martinez of Emmanuel Worship Center officiating the ceremony. Burial services will follow at Peaceful Gardens.
