Raymond "Ramiro" Sanchez

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Acts 20:35

Raymond R. Sanchez was surrounded by family and loved ones as he entered his home in Heaven on March 5, 2025.

He was born on November 23, 1942 in Brown City, Michigan to Ladislao Sanchez and Consuelo Rodriguez. He was one of eleven brothers and sisters, he and his family made their way to Texas where he met and married Emma Trevino. They were married on July 30, 1966 and settled to raise a family in Anton, Texas. They were married for 46 wonderful years.

He worked as a welder and supervisor for Eagle Pitcher Industries for many years, he helped lead and build many projects for St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anton and he helped neighbors, family and friends build their houses, homes, porches, sheds, fences and just about anything that required the skill of a carpenter and craftsman. Most importantly, he took a small house and built it into a large, loving home for his family.

While he enjoyed carpentry and building, his true passion was music, singing and telling funny stories. He truly enjoyed visiting friends and family, being visited by friends and family and was always ready to sing a song. He lead the choir at St. Anthony’s for several years, he would sing at Jamaicas, family functions, birthday parties, funerals and talent shows. He especially enjoyed singing and dancing at home with his family and having all of us sing as well. He always carried a smile on his face and a song in his heart, and he would always say, “When something happens to me, don’t be sad, quiero que me canten canciones.”

He spent his final years enjoying retirement with Guadalupe Gutierrez, he would travel, still build, and of course, sing rancheras and corridos.

He was preceded into Heaven by his wife, Emma T. Sanchez, mother and father, 4 sisters, 1 brother and 1 great-grand child.

He is survived by: brothers Felix Sanchez, Joe Frank Sanchez, Jose Luis Sanchez, Domingo Sanchez, and sister Yolanda Sanchez. His Son Ramiro Jr. and Nancy Sanchez, Daughters Connie and Mark Perez, Ruby and Robert Smith and Guadalupe Gutierrez.

Grandsons Ramiro Sanchez III and Miranda, AJ and Sophia Carrillo, granddaughters Naomi Sanchez, Emily and Robert Castillo and Salyann and Dylan Simons and 8 great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for all the love and compassion he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. He always carried himself with dignity, strength, faith and love for everyone around him. He will be missed but the lessons of love and forgiveness that he taught through his actions will be with us forever.

He always wanted everyone to be happy, content and together, so when you remember him,

por favor, “Canten Canciones.”

Visitation will be held Monday, March 10 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 Tuesday evening at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
