Richard G. Guerra passed from this life on January 8, 2025 from his home at the age of 77. He was born August 1, 1947 in
San Antonio, Texas to Liberato and Julia Guerra. On June 15, 1985 he married Belinda Marquez Guerra in Lubbock, Texas and they shared 40 years together. Richard received training as an auto mechanic in the United States Army and spent over 22 years working at Scoggin-Dickey and Modern Chevrolet. He was an avid learner of many things like auto mechanics and engineering, science, music, movies and TV. He was a self-taught musician and learned to play the harmonica, guitar, piano, and of course the accordion. He loved time spent with family and friends over the years talking about childhood and the good ol’ days, playing songs, cooking and barbecuing, and repairing everything with an engine! He will be remembered for being found in the winter cold or sultry summer heat in his own man cave – the garage! It was his own place of personal solace or public entertaining that served over the years as a pool room, music studio, TV room, bar, and general lounge where nearly everyone was welcomed.
He is survived by his beloved wife Belinda, his brothers Lee and Mike Guerra, his four daughters and one son, his 10 grandchildren, and his 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Pablo, Julie, Cornelio, and Pedro.
A memorial service will be held Monday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
